With the current raft of energy efficiency funding and forthcoming Green Deal, we need to ensure the most appropriate retrofit solutions are chosen for properties in Wales.  We have the oldest building stock in the UK and the largest proportion of terraced homes in UK, currently at 40% of the homes.  According to current estimates 80% of the 2050 building stock is here now, and 28% of this 2050 stock will be terraced homes.

This event gives an overview of the STBA “Responsible Retrofit of traditional buildings*” report and an opportunity to contribute to the WLZCH retrofit toolkit. The toolkit has been designed to provide guidance to those considering retrofit options to enable them to understand what are appropriate to their type of property and where the risks lie. Colin King, WLZCH and John Edwards, Cadw, Welsh Government, will be presenting.

* by definition, a traditional building is one constructed before 1919
