The Low Carbon Research Institute (LCRI) will be hosting their fifth annual LCRI Conference 2013 on the 5th and 6th of November in Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

The conference will focus on Low Carbon Market Transitions. It will examine the work of the LCRI in the current economic climate, with speakers discussing the ways our research is having an impact upon the Welsh economy, by developing technologies and services, and creating jobs.

This 2 day event will bring together researchers, policy makers and industry to look holistically at the low carbon agenda. It will focus on the R&D and innovation needed to deliver governmental policy objectives in Wales, the UK and internationally, together with the technological, economic and social challenges and opportunities this will involve.

Keynote speakers will include Professor Phil Jones, Chair of the LCRI, Alan Davies, Minister for Natural Resources and Food, Dr David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Technologies Institute, Jim Watson, Research Director of the UK Energy Research Centre and Malcolm Grimston, Senior Research Fellow, Imperial College London.

This will be an opportunity to hear from each of our projects, to learn in-depth information into our research and progress, as well as to understand the work of the larger LCRI as a whole.

Sessions will consist of various presentations from the projects, including:
• Low Carbon Built Environment (LCBE) – Energy Generating Building Envelopes, The Use of Welsh Timber in Wales
• Hydrogen – Cymru H2Wales – Successes and Outcomes, Electrolytic Hydrogen Production
• Solar Photovoltaic Academic Research Consortium (SPARC) – Power electronics and PV monitoring, Low cost light harvesting using PV
• Smart Operation for a Low Carbon Energy Region (SOLCER) – Implementing low carbon systems, Scaling up of low carbon systems
• Large Scale Power Generation (LSPG) – Combustion Instabilities and high pressure research, Novel bio-fuels
• Marine – Optimising Tidal Stream Turbine Performance, Oceanographic Effects of Large Scale Marine Renewables
