Partnership team working at its finest
This month the Kier Afon Wen All Through School Team conducted a community clean up in Pontypridd partnering with neighbouring construction company ISG to transform an unloved A470 underpass into a more inviting space for school pupils and the community to use.
After consulting with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council Sustainable Communities for Learning team, Hawthorn Community Council and Pontypridd Town Council the unloved underpass was identified as a target zone for improvement. Adopting a joined up working approach, Kier Construction pooled their resources alongside ISG to create a volunteer working group dedicated to tidy the space.
A big thank you to the incredibly hardworking Kier volunteers that helped throughout the day, the ISG team, Keep Wales Tidy for providing litter picking equipment and Leggs Sweets and Treats Hawthorn for delivering lunch! What a team!
Kier’s £23.8m Afon Wen All Through School based in Hawthorn, Pontypridd on the SEWSCAP Framework is due to be completed in 2024. The Net Zero Carbon designed school will be a fantastic addition to the community.
