Kier Volunteer Day at Mossrose Cottage

As part of Kier Construction’s Ysgol Cynefin project, the site team and supply chain partners have been supporting the team at  Mossrose Cottage volunteering time and expertise to support the wonderful work they do in Cardiff.

This incredible charity provides people of working age who face ‘invisible barriers’ with opportunities to connect with others, try new things, and support local community initiatives.

Spending time with owner Bernadette and her daughter Emily, in such an inspiring place really reminded the team how powerful volunteering can be, an act of reciprocity.

On top of hosting a day volunteering at Mossrose Cottage, the team have also donated over 30 hours of time to support their expansion application, funding advice, expertise and drawings supporting their plan to create an accessible space to reach even more people within the local area.

Ysgol Calon Lan Pupils Take Part in Inspiring Trade Days with Kier

Pupils from Ysgol Calon Lan’s Tŷ Dyfatty and Tŷ Penlan campuses recently took part in some inspiring trade days hosted by Kier, in partnership with Careers Wales. The event was part of the students’ Career Work Related Experience programme and offered a unique opportunity to explore practical trades in real-world settings.

Held at the Y Storfa project in Swansea, one of the days featured hands-on painting and decorating experience led by Kier’s supply chain partner, Swansea Decorating Services. The pupils gained valuable insight into the trade, learning industry techniques and getting creative with brushes and rollers.

Back at their schools, pupils also participated in a carpentry session with Ian Williams Carpentry, where they built planters and picnic benches that will be used by the school in the spring, combining skill-building with a meaningful contribution to their learning.
