Big Innovation Pitch

Have you got a fantastic idea for the construction industry that will help the whole supply chain respond to the environmental, economic and social challenges facing the built environment? Yes? Then enter the Big Innovation Pitch by next Wednesday

Hosted in conjunction with Futurebuild the Big Innovation Pitch is the industry's largest call-out for innovation to date and will identify and celebrate novel approaches to some of the biggest challenges facing the built environment. Open to all organisations, from start-ups and entrepreneurs, through to larger established brands, the Big Innovation Pitch shortlist will have the opportunity to pitch their entry during the first day of Futurebuild on Tuesday 3rd March 2020, followed by the final, taking place on day two of the event. You will be pitching to thousands of built environment professionals as well as a panel of expert judges. Finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their products in the Futurebuild Innovation Zone.

The deadline for your innovative solutions and products is Wednesday 27th November 2019. The shortlist will be notified in early January 2020.
BRE judges are calling for entries to be submitted, that will address one of the following six challenges. The winning idea will receive 1 years' worth of free BRE Academy online training and a full turn key stand for the 2021 show worth over £20K.

The Big Innovation six challenges:

Offsite challenge: reliability and efficiency combined with creative placemaking.
Sometimes viewed sceptically, the built-offsite home could be a solution to help the UK housing crisis, given the speed and efficiency by which homes can be built. We are looking for innovative methods of construction.

Buildings challenge: retrofitted, re-used, net positive & built to perform
We are looking for innovative solutions to accelerate the delivery of commitments to near zero energy use in buildings by 2050, while fostering the integration of novel and renewable energy solutions to address energy needs and the role of big data in informing the landscape of future building energy trends.

Energy challenge: accurate data for carbon accounting & reduced clean energy usage
We are looking for innovative solutions to accelerate the delivery of commitments to near zero energy use in buildings by 2050, while fostering the integration of novel and renewable energy solutions to address energy needs and the role of big data in informing the landscape of future building energy trends.

Interiors challenge: sustainable and health promoting
We are looking for innovative solutions that will help promote sustainable and healthy solutions in interior design and refurbishment for where we work and live, improving the health and wellbeing of occupants.

Critical infrastructure challenge: delivering resilient assets
The infrastructure sector is a critical enabler to delivering public services, whether that be transport, energy or water. As a result, the need for it to be resilient to all manner of threats, not just extreme weather, but also wider natural hazards and intentional threats is critical.

Resourceful Materials challenge: thinking circular to reduce, reuse & recycle
We are looking for innovative solutions that will enable infrastructure to deliver on the grand challenges of delivering net zero carbon, enhancing natural capital and becoming more resilient.
