Building Equality, an alliance of construction organisations and professional Institutions, launched the LGBT+ Inclusive Toolbox Talk initiative to assist with educating and empowering our workforces. This webinar is for anyone who wants to learn about, or teach others, about LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace. The session aims to educate on the impact of discriminatory language and behaviour, provide an insight into LGBT rights and history as well as to encourage supportive workplaces where everyone is treated fairly and equally:
- LGBT+ terminology: Learn the basics of LGBT+ terminology and be introduced to sexuality, gender identity and gender expression.
- LGBT+ rights and history: An overview of key dates and milestones on how far the LGBT+ rights movement has come, or indeed not, over the last 50+ years.
- Discrimination and microaggressions: The webinar will addresses the use of inappropriate language and discriminatory behaviour in the workplace, and the impact such prejudice can have on a person's physical and mental health
- Be an Ally, not a Bystander: Take the pledge and understand the importance of being an ally - a person who supports equal civil rights, gender equality, LGBT social movements, and challenges homophobia, biphobia and transphobia
