Cathy Owens, Director at Deryn will provide an overview of government and politics in Wales. The focus will be on infrastructure and construction, outlining the responsibilities of the UK Government and Welsh Government and how the wider business community could better understand politics and the importance of coalition building during campaigns if it is to successfully play its part in the, not so new, devolved Wales. Established in 2011, Deryn is a rapidly growing public affairs consultancy bringing together senior level, cross party experience in campaigning, government relations and politics in Wales. We have come together to help organisations and companies in Wales that need to engage with communities across Wales, opinion formers active in civic society and political decision-makers at every level. Cathy Owens previously worked as a Special Adviser at the Welsh Government, and played leading roles in the Carwyn Jones leadership campaign as well as the successful Yes for Wales campaign in the 2011 powers referendum. She has been a government relations specialist in Wales for 18 years and advises senior blue chip corporate clients.
