Business Wales would like to  invite you to attend a Meet the Contractor Event with Laing O’Rourke Construction Limited at the Michael Sobell Centre, The Ynys, Aberdare CF44 7RP on Wednesday 17th July, 8.00am – 10.00am.

Laing O’Rourke Construction Limited is working in partnership with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council on the Sobell Development, Aberdare. This circa £32m development will provide the community of Aberdare with state of the art education and sporting facilities. The scheme encompasses the construction of 1600 place secondary school, new dry sports leisure facility along with a link to and new entrance to the existing Ynys Swimming Pool. Extensive external works will also be undertaken including a new athletics track, stadium building, sports pitches and hard and soft landscaping to the site. Demolition of the existing Sobell dry sports leisure facility will also be required.

Presentations will be given by the Laing O’Rourke Project team and Regional Procurement Leader on the scope of works, key package procurement along with guidance on standards and requirements for sub-contractor appointment.

Representatives from Working Links and Y Prentis will also be on hand at the event to provide guidance on local employment initiatives and apprenticeships schemes.

Tendering advisors from Business Wales will also be available on the morning to offer support and advice.
