Do you know enough about how BIM is going to change construction? Building Information Modelling is not just the next ‘big thing’ in construction.

It has the potential to transform construction in Wales. By digitising processes and allowing integrated teams to work even more closely together and collaborate as a one cohesive unit Welsh construction can design, build and manage our buildings better and deliver first class schemes that benefit all of our community.

But what’s the catch? Iwan Jenkins, a CEW Board Director and a partner at Hugh James, looks at the changing legal landscape in a BIM world. BIM will not just change how we build, but will also impact upon the use of copyright, procurement, insurance, health and safety, design responsibility and the general approach in relation to contract documents.

BIM is not just about how we build, it is also about the paperwork that supports the agreements and contracts. Hence Iwan will guide us through the content of the CIC BIM Protocol and discuss how the industry is reacting in relation to standard contract documents and the use of BIM.
