‘Peer Review’ for the Constructing Excellence in Wales Demonstration Programme

The Works Y Gwaith in Llanelli is a 512 seat theatre auditorium including specialist theatre equipment, supporting back of house facilities which will include the refurbishment and conversion of two listed Chapels all with associated external works, highway works, drainage and incoming services.

This will be the only theatre in Wales to comply with DDA Regulations in terms of the accessibility and use by the public and users/operators of the facility, and will achieve BREEAM Excellent.

The £12m project is being constructed by main contractor T. Richard Jones (Betws) Ltd for the client Carmarthenshire County Council. Work started on site in November 2010 with a projected 80 week programme.

The project is participating in the Demonstration Programme for Wales, designed to promote Best Practice and innovation in construction through a wide ranging programme of projects and initiatives throughout Wales.

Come and hear from the project team on the challenges faced in constructing such a facility.  You will have opportunities to participate in the discussion and provide your own ‘review’ or assessment of the project via a simple scoring mechanism.  This provides a valuable stage in the process of a project becoming a ‘demonstration’.

There is no charge for the event but you must register with us in advance. To reserve your place please emailcewalesevents@cewales.org.uk stating your full contact details and the names of all delegates wishing to attend.

Once registered, we will send you the necessary details on location, parking etc.

Non attendance by any registered delegate will be charged at £40 (plus Vat) unless you have informed us by Tuesday 18h January
