A ‘Final Peer Review’ for the CEW Demonstration Programme

The A473 forms an important section of the Welsh Strategic Highway Network running west to east across the South Wales valleys between Bridgend and Pontypridd. The existing road passes through Llantwit Fardre, Church Village and Ton-teg. The new road will provide an additional and alternative route between Cross Inn and Ton-teg.

The Bypass is a £90m project funded through the WAG Transport Grant and is due for completion in Autumn 2010. The project partners, which include Rhondda Cynon Taf, Costain, Atkins and Capita, are focussing on a number of areas including sustainability, value engineering, CSR and waste management.

The project is participating in the Demonstration Programme for Wales, designed to promote Best Practice and innovation in construction through a wide ranging programme of projects and initiatives throughout Wales.

The project team will provide an insight into the project and as part of the presentation you will have opportunities to participate in the discussion and provide your own ‘review’ or assessment of the project via a simple scoring mechanism.

As this is the Final Review, the project team will focus on the project ‘journey’ highlighting ‘lessons learned’ and how the initiatives contained in the chosen themes have been delivered.

Registration is at 8am with the event scheduled to finish at approx 11am. Numbers are limited and, if over-subscribed, priority will be given to CEW club members.

PPE is required for the site visit.
