Ffos Las Racecourse

Ffos Las is the first new National Hunt Racecourse constructed in the country for over 80 years. The racecourse is a 1 mile 4 furlong course, and covers an area of 17 hectares within a 650 acre envelope. The client for the scheme is Ffos Las Ltd. The project team, headed by Walters UK Ltd, includes Walters Group Company’s Walters Plant Ltd and Walters Environmental, Carmarthenshire County Council and the British Horseracing Authority.

This is the first purpose designed racecourse, which is fully drained and irrigated with an ameliorated soil bed providing the ultimate in consistent even going, and importantly for the region, it is a regeneration project that has transformed the largest opencast coalmine in Europe.

Come and hear from the project team how this groundbreaking project for west Wales was delivered and is helping to regenerate the local community as well as attracting the cream of the racing world. The event will include a tour of the new facilities. We anticipate the event will conclude at approx 11.30am.
