CEWales E Bulletin June 23

What a fantastic night the CEW Awards 2023 was. Congratulations to all the winners! They showcase the multidisciplinary and complex projects we have in Wales, teams and professions who did not work in silos but delivered through collaboration, ultimately leading to better value.

They used whole systems approaches and worked together, collectively tackling the complex challenges that confront us in the construction industry; like net zero energy transition, biodiversity loss, globalization, digitalisation and AI. All of which our winners and those shortlisted, demonstrated through the CEW Awards. We cannot just give credit to the projects without acknowledging the exemplar people involved.

CEWales is a platform to share success and the great things happening within our sector, let me slightly rephrase that…….. CEWales is YOUR platform to celebrate YOUR excellence! We received so many outstanding entries this year, thank you, we know how much work it takes to enter the awards.

What makes CEWales and our awards so special is that we are the only organisation tasked with representing the entire built environment supply chain, every aspect and element of the construction sector in Wales. There were over 400 people at our awards dinner, every profession within the Welsh built environment under one roof.

Let me quickly challenge perceptions, CEWales has an enviable background and valuable status for what we stand for and strive to achieve but in reality the runners are myself, Sue Selkirk and a small board of directors and we work hard for this purpose……..but what makes the movement so meaningful and powerful is YOU, our members, sponsors, judges, those who give your time to offering your knowledge and thoughts in seminars, events and papers, most of all a collective commitment to these common goals. Your dedication and commitment to this industry, to our built environment and to CEWales is to be commended.

Thank you for helping us to demonstrate just how amazing you all are and how important this industry of ours is to the Welsh economy. If you are not already, then please do support the CE movement and join us as members in Wales.

Our Winners will go through to the Constructing Excellence National Awards in London. We are right behind you, good luck!
