Job Purpose

To be the dedicated Community Liaison Officer for the ISG Cardiff office. The role will be based onsite and will work with the local identified wards of Cardiff Council. The position is full time fixed contract and the successful candidate will also be required to assist the with the implementation of Group and Regional sustainability strategies.

Key Deliverables

  • Liaise with the project site teams and supply chain on site and ensure that ISG, Client and Stakeholder sustainability and social value objectives are met within required timeframes.
  • Help to develop, cultivate and support the project team deliver the social value requirements with strategic support from the wider sustainability team.
  • Identify opportunities for achieving specific Social Value KPI's.
  • Facilitate stakeholder and community engagement meetings to ensure the Social Value KPI's are SMART.
  • Carry out regular site visits and meetings with suppliers, to monitor progress, ensuring these are communicated to the project teams/trade contractors for their information and action, and follow up any non-conformances.
  • Deliver internal training to project teams and trade contractors where appropriate – including how to achieve Social Value targets and enhance the local community.
  • Liaise with clients and professional teams via meetings and producing project social value reports.
  • Communicate social value issues and performance to site teams (via team meetings, project reports and sustainability information posters on site).
  • Collect the relevant data and evidence to meet the requirements.
  • Report centrally, monthly on project social value performance and compliance
  • Capture ISG best practice and produce case studies to share information and improve performance

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a passion for working with local communities to deliver social value around a construction project and fulfil all client social value targets.  A knowledge of environment issues and understanding of the role sustainability plays in the construction industry would also be useful but not essential.  The role involves working closely with project team and the supply chain on site to:

  • Lead on community engagement activity for the project team
  • Deliver on Social Value targets from the client and consultants
  • Engage and support local communities around apprentices, work experience placements, educational visits etc.
  • Facilitate community activities,
  • Liaise with recruitment and employment organisations to attract apprentices, local labour and employees from a NEET and other target area backgrounds.
  • Meet ISG, stakeholder, client and any other third-party requirements
  • Support the use of a local supply chain, labour and materials.
  • Establish links in the local community to deliver social value targets etc
  • Collect and input the required data and evidence into the various systems
  • Monitor project performance against targets set

A methodical approach to workload is necessary, as is the ability to prioritise important over urgent. The role involves working in both a standalone capacity as well as being part of a team. The individual should have experience related to the construction industry and sustainability where possible.
