As you may be aware, the Office of Government Commerce introduced a set of Common Minimum Standards for the procurement of built environment project in the public sector.

The CMS weren’t developed with the Devolved Administrations specifically in mind and consequently, don’t reflect all of the policies and initiatives that are applicable in Wales.

Therefore, an equivalent set of standards, entitled the Construction Quality Assurance Template CQAT), have been developed by Value Wales, these are enclosed within the links below for your consideration, together with a background document that provides further information:

CQAT Background

V0.1, CQAT – interactive workbook 1152×864, 060809

Where a business case for a new programme or project includes a construction element, it is proposed that the work is progressed with full reference to CQAT.

You are invited to provide feedback on the proposed CQAT by submitting your comments/queries to construction2@wales.gsi.gov.uk. Feedback should be submitted so as to be received by 11 September 2009.

Please forward this email to other colleagues within your organisation that will have an interest in submitting feedback. This document has already been sent to a few Public Sector members, apologies if you have already received it.

Thank you
