From 1st September 2009 via the Ministerial Interim Planning Policy Statement and TAN22 it is proposed that all housing developments of 5 or more houses within Wales must meet the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 with a minimum of a 31% improvement in carbon emissions against current building regulations and all non-domestic buildings over 1000 sq mtrs must achieve BREEAM Very Good as well as BREEAM Excellent for ENE1 energy credits.

Constructing Excellence Wales with BRE are holding a series of seminars to explain what this means to the construction industry in Wales and what clients, developers, architects and contractors should do to meet these standards. The first in the series is Planning for Sustainable Buildings.

Details of other events in the series will follow shortly. The topics will include:

  • An Architect’s Guide to Delivering the Code for Sustainable Homes
  • An Architect’s Guide to Cracking BREEAM Excellent
  • Passive House Meeting Zero Carbon/High Levels of the Code
  • Sustainable Refurbishment beyond WHQ’s

The charge for the event is £55 plus VAT for club members and £65 plus VAT for non club members, and you must register with us in advance. Delegates may cancel their registration and will receive a credit for the fees paid less 50% as long as we are informed two weeks before the event.  Cancellations after this will be charged in full.
