Winner: Lawson Construction
Frank Lawson, the owner and manager of Lawson Construction since he established the business in May 2000 now runs one of the most progressive, albeit small companies specialising in all types of construction, groundwork’s and civil engineering projects. Last year, the business won the SME award category and its stated aim was to become one of North Wales’ leading contractors. It is now recognised as a leader in its field of operations and has gained a reputation for reliability and flexibility of approach and for ensuring that its customers receive excellent service, delivered on time via the most efficient and environmentally appropriate means. Although still a relatively small enterprise in terms of staff numbers, the company is constantly developing and continually improving its range of activities throughout North Wales, customers include the Safety and/or Maintenance Divisions of many private companies and most Public Sector Organisations in these areas. This attitude comes from the top.
The Lawson team is responding to the economic and operational challenges by focusing on doing things better. Of first importance is the training and development of its people – both in an overall knowledge of the company but particularly in regard to health & safety and specialist skills. This has given the customers confidence that whoever they speak to in the organisation they will meet with a knowledgeable well informed response . Other key areas of focus are the procurement of materials and where ever possible managing out waste, recycling and re-using materials and operating sustainably. Lawson Construction is an example to everyone in the industry – both big and small.
